Silver medalist at the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing 2008. In the qualification, Andrey Stadnik defeated the American Doug Schwab 3:0. In the round of 16, he defeated the Indian Sushil Kumar (3:1), in the quarterfinals he defeated the Belarusian Albert Batyrov (5:0) and in the semifinals, he defeated Leonid Spiridonov from Kazakhstan (3:0). In the final, the Ukrainian lost to Ramazan Şahin from Turkey 1:2.

Andrey Stadnik won the gold medal at the European Championship in freestyle wrestling. The final match ended in periods 1:2, 6:5, 3:1. This is the first gold medal for Ukraine at the European Championship.
