Biography of Jurij Stets

Date of Birth: 29.12.1975

Jurij Yaroslavovych Stets - Ukrainian politician and journalist. Minister of Information Policy (2014-2019). Honored Journalist of Ukraine (2005).

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Chortkiv, Ternopil Oblast. In 1996, he graduated from the Chernivtsi Art School (head of the folklore ensemble, organizer of cultural and leisure activities). In 2009 - Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (Information Systems Manager). In 2011, he earned the profession of Foreign Economic Manager.

Career. 1990-1991 - Reporter of Chernivtsi Regional State Television.

From January to May 1992 - Editor of the ICTV branch in Chernivtsi.

From July 1992 to July 1993 - Editor, chief editor of TBA (Chernivtsi).

From July 1993 to March 1997 - PR Manager at Nathan Company.

From March to August 1997 - Editor at TOV 'Niko-PR' (Chernivtsi).

1997-2000 - Editor of music programs at TOV 'Television and Radio Company NBM'.

2000-2002 - Deputy Director at TOV 'Television and Radio Company NBM'.

Since 2002 - General Director of TOV 'Television and Radio Company NBM' (5 Channel).

Since 2005 - General Director of TOV 'Television and Radio Company Express-Info' simultaneously.

Since 2006 - Honorary Chairman of the International Charitable Fund 'My Ukraine'.

Since 2007 - Director of TOV 'Television and Radio Company NBM-Radio' simultaneously. Member of the Supervisory Board of the 5th Channel.

Political Career. 2007-2012 - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the VI Congress of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Party (No. 53 on the party list). Secretary of the Parliamentary Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information. From February to December 2012 - Chairman of the Committee.

Since December 2012 - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the VII Congress of Batkivshchyna (No. 63 on the party list). Member of the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information.

After the extraordinary elections to the Ukrainian Parliament held on October 26, 2014, he became a member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the VIII Congress of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Party (No. 13 on the list).

On December 2, 2014, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted a resolution to form the cabinet, in which Jurij Stets was appointed Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine.

On April 14, 2016, the Ukrainian Parliament dismissed Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and voted for the appointment of Volodymyr Hroyisman. That day, Parliament confirmed the new government, where Stets continued to hold the position of head of the Ministry of Information Policy.

On May 31, 2017, Jurij Stets submitted his resignation as Minister of Information Policy, which was not approved by Parliament.

On August 29, 2019, Jurij Stets resigned from his position as Minister of Information Policy.

Awards. Honored Journalist of Ukraine (2005).

Family. Wife - Yana Konotop, journalist, political analyst (5 Channel). Sons Vladyslav and Serh, daughter Eva.
