Biography of Maksym Stepanov

Date of birth: 18.08.1975

Place of birth. Education. Born in Skovorodino, Amur Oblast, Russia.

In 1998, he graduated from Donetsk National Medical University named after M. Gorky with a degree in General Medicine. In 2004, he graduated from Kyiv National Economic University with a degree in International Economics.

Career. From 1990 to 1992, he worked as an orderly at Sloviansk City Hospital No. 1.

From 1998 to 1999, he was the Executive Director of the Closed Joint-Stock Company "Energoservice".

From 1999 to 2001, he held the position of Deputy General Director of the Group of Companies "Trading House "Gas Ukraine" National Joint Stock Company "Naftogaz of Ukraine".

From 2001 to 2003, he was the Deputy General Director of the Closed Joint-Stock Company "Industrial and Financial Company "Veche".

In 2003, he worked at the State Tax Administration of Ukraine, serving as Deputy Head of the STA.

From 2004 to 2008, he was the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Limited Liability Company "Republican Legal Union", Kyiv.

From 2008 to 2010, he was the First Deputy Chairman of the Odesa Regional State Administration.

From 2010 to 2011, he was the Director of the Ukrainian State Center for Transport Services "Liski".

From 2011 to 2017, he was the Director of the State Enterprise "Polygraph Combine Ukraine".

Since January 2017, he was the Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration. His predecessor in this position was Mikheil Saakashvili.

On April 6, 2019, President Petro Poroshenko removed Maksym Stepanov from the position of Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration by his decree. On April 8, Maksym Stepanov refused to leave his position following Poroshenko's decree dismissing him. On April 10, 2019, during a Cabinet meeting, Maksym Stepanov was ultimately dismissed from his position as head of the Odesa RSA. On the same day, Petro Poroshenko signed a decree dismissing Maksym Stepanov.

On March 30, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint Maksym Stepanov as the Minister of Health, with 246 MPs voting for his candidacy.

On May 18, 2021, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Maksym Stepanov from the post of Minister of Health.

Family. The father of the Odesa governor, Volodymyr Stepanov, works as the chief physician of the city clinical hospital of Sloviansk.
