Ulyana-Nadezhda Suprun (née - Yurkiv) - acting Minister of Health of Ukraine (2016-2019), doctor.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Detroit (USA) in a family of Ukrainian emigrants. Attended the Ukrainian church, was a member of the Plast scout organization from childhood. Studied at the University of Michigan medical school and specialized in radiology.

Career. Lived and worked as a doctor in the USA. In 1991, she moved to New York with her husband, where she was actively involved in projects supporting Ukrainians.

In 2012, the couple sold their house in New York and began traveling the world.

In the autumn of 2013, a week after the start of the Dignity Revolution, they moved to Ukraine with her husband. She provided medical assistance to the participants of Maidan.

Since 2014 - Director of Humanitarian Initiatives of the World Congress of Ukrainians.

In May 2014, she founded the public organization 'Protection of Patriots', which conducts tactical medicine training and provides Ukrainian fighters with individual NATO-standard first aid kits.

In July 2015, President Petro Poroshenko signed decrees granting Ukrainian citizenship to Ulyana and Marco Suprun 'as persons whose naturalization in Ukraine is in the public interest.'

In September 2015, Suprun was appointed external advisor to the Health Committee of Parliament.

Since autumn 2015 - founder and director of the Rehabilitation Medicine School at the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv).

On July 22, 2016 - by order of the government, she was appointed as the first deputy minister of health of Ukraine, upon the recommendation of President Poroshenko.

On July 27, 2016 - at a government meeting, Suprun was appointed acting Minister of Health. The position of Minister of Health remained vacant for several months after the resignation of Arseniy Yatsenyuk's cabinet in April 2016.

On September 4, 2019, the cabinet dismissed Ulyana Suprun.

Social Activities. Since 1990, she has been a member of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), from 1997 to 1999 she was the director of the Humanitarian Aid Council for Ukrainians at UCCA.

From 1995 to 2013, she was a member of the Ukrainian Youth Association of New York.

From 2000 to 2009, she was president of the Ukrainian-American Civil Liberties Association.

Member of the supervisory board of the First Volunteer Hospital named after Pyrogov.
