Biography
Date of Birth: 23.05.1958
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Stryj, Lviv Oblast. In 1982, he graduated from the M.V. Frunze Military Naval Academy in Leningrad. In 1994 - The Institute of Foreign Languages of the U.S. Department of Defense. In 1997 - The Academy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Faculty for the Training of Specialists at the Operational-Strategic Level).
Career. Since 1982 - Commander of a mine-torpedo unit of a Soviet Navy warship.
From 1983 to 1991 - Commander of a minesweeper, commander of a transfer team, senior officer assistant to a minesweeper commander, minesweeper commander, head of the weapons and technology storage department of the Soviet Navy's mine and submarine defense armament base.
From 1991 to 1995 - Senior officer for battle support in the command area of the Ukrainian Navy department of the Ministry of Defense, head of the command lines of the Navy of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, head of the command lines of the main operations department of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
From 1997 to 2005 - Commander of a fleet of surface ships, head of an organizational group for the formation of a diverse forces fleet, commander of a diverse forces fleet of the Ukrainian Navy. Current head of the United Black Sea Group of military-maritime cooperation BlackSeaFOR (2002).
Since November 2005 - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
From March 2006 to March 2010 - Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Navy. In April 2010, he was discharged from military service by order of the Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
As of February 27, 2014 - Current Acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine in the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk. He was appointed by the acting President of Ukraine and Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov.
On March 25, 2014, Teniuk submitted his resignation. The Verkhovna Rada relieved him and appointed Defense Minister Mykhailo Koval as chairman.
Social Activities. In 2004 - Active participant in the Orange Revolution, member of the Committee for National Salvation.
From 1990 to 1994 - Deputy in the Sevastopol City Council.
Since 2012, a member of the Svoboda party.
