Igor Alexandrovich Woronzow - former Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Admiral of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Place of Birth. Education. Igor Woronzow was born on August 22, 1964, in the urban-type settlement of Babai in the Kharkiv Region. Even in his childhood, he wanted to become a soldier. He graduated from the Tashkent Tank School and then served in a group of Soviet troops in Germany, where he commanded a tank train. In 1988, he returned to the Soviet Union and served in the Belarusian Military District as the commander of a tank company and as the chief of staff of a tank battalion.
After the collapse of the USSR, he returned to his homeland and swore allegiance to the Ukrainian people. He served in the National Guard of Ukraine in Kharkiv. From 1998 to 2003, he commanded a regiment in Crimea that initially belonged to the 7th Division of the National Guard and was later transformed into the 501st separate motorized rifle regiment (Unit A0669).

On December 6, 2013, Colonel Igor Woronzow, Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for Coastal Defense and Head of the Coastal and Territorial Defense Department of the Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was promoted to Major General.
On October 14, 2015, Major General Igor Woronzow, Head of the Main Personnel Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was promoted to Lieutenant General.
On April 25, 2016, he was appointed acting Commander of the Ukrainian Navy.
On July 2, 2016, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko appointed Lieutenant General Igor Woronzow as the Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and awarded him the rank of Vice Admiral.
On August 23, 2018, Igor Woronzow was appointed Admiral by the decree of the Ukrainian President No. 242/2018.
On June 11, 2020, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Igor Woronzow from his position as Commander of the Ukrainian Navy.
Since June 2020, he has been the Chief Inspector of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
Awards. Order of Danylo Halytskyi (August 24, 2013) - for significant personal contribution to the protection of state sovereignty, ensuring constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, guaranteeing the economic security of the state, professional fulfillment of official duties and on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
Medal 'For Impeccable Service' III class (October 20, 1998) - for exemplary fulfillment of military duty and high professionalism.
