Denis Nikolayevich Voronenkov - Russian politician.
Birthplace. Education. Born into a military family on April 10, 1971, in Gorky, RSFSR. In 1988, he graduated with honors from the Lenin Suvorov Military School in Leningrad.

In 1995, he graduated with honors and a gold medal from the Military Academy of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
In 1996, he graduated from the Law Faculty of Ryazan State University.
In 1999, he successfully defended his dissertation on 'Legal Nihilism and Legal Idealism (a theoretical-legal study)' at the Moscow Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia to obtain the degree of Candidate of Legal Sciences.
In 2002, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation awarded Voronenkov the title of Associate Professor.
In 2009, he successfully defended his dissertation on 'Theoretical and Normative Foundations of Judicial Control in the Mechanism of Separation of Powers' at the Russian Law Academy of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
Political Activity. From 2011 to 2016, he was a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and a member of the Security and Anti-Corruption Committee as well as a member of the 'KPRF' faction.
On March 20, 2014, he, along with 443 deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, voted for the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
In October 2016, he moved to Ukraine with his wife, State Duma deputy Maria Maxakova, and on December 6, 2016, he obtained Ukrainian citizenship. Later, he stated in an interview that he was forced to support Putin under the threat to his family and that Duma deputies were ordered to support the annexation of Crimea.
Murder. He was murdered on March 23, 2017, at about 11:30 a.m. in Kiev at the intersection of Taras Shevchenko Boulevard and Pushkinskaya Street. The Ukrainian authorities referred to this incident as a political murder ordered by the Kremlin. Voronenkov was one of the witnesses in the case of former dictator Viktor Yanukovych.
Family. From his previous marriage to Yulia Alexandrovna Voronenkova, he had two children. In March 2015, Voronenkov registered a marriage with opera singer and State Duma deputy of United Russia Maria Maxakova-Igenbergs. On April 15, 2016, the couple Maxakova and Voronenkov welcomed their son Ivan.
