Vladimir Mikhailovich Zamana - Chief of the General Staff - Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2012-2014), Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (February 19 - February 22, 2014), Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for monitoring the activities of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (February 22 - February 27, 2014). Place of Birth. Education. Born in Ombishka in the Borznja district of Chernihiv region. Graduated from the Kharkiv Guard Higher Tank Command School of the Supreme Rada of the Ukrainian SSR (1982), the Military Academy of Armored Troops named after Malinovsky (1993), the National Defense Academy of Ukraine (2004).
Career. After military school, he served in the group of Soviet troops in Germany and in the Central Asian military district as a tank platoon commander, tank company commander, chief of staff - deputy commander of the tank battalion, commander of the tank battalion.
After graduating from the military academy, he served in the Odessa military district and in the Northern Operational Command as chief of staff - deputy commander of the tank regiment, commander of the tank regiment, commander of the tank brigade, head of the training center for preparing young specialists of the armored troops.
From 2004 he was the deputy corps commander, from July 2005 to May 2007 he was the commander of the 6th Guards Army Corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
From 2007 he was the head of the Territorial Administration of the Western Operational Command.
From 2009 he was the deputy commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for combat training - head of the combat training department.
On February 18, 2012, he was appointed by presidential decree from Viktor Yanukovych as Chief of the General Staff - Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (this position was previously held by Grigori Pedchenko).
On February 19, 2014, he was dismissed from the position of Chief of the General Staff by a decree from Yanukovych and on the same day appointed Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. As Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he was replaced by Admiral Yuriy Ilyin, who was dismissed a few days later at the order of acting President Oleksandr Turchynov.
On February 22, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Zamana as Commissioner for monitoring the activities of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and from February 27 Igor Tenyukh was appointed acting Minister of Defense.
In March 2014, he was retired with the right to wear a military uniform.
In the unexpected parliamentary elections, he ran as a candidate for people's deputies for the party Strength and Honor, No. 5 on the list. In the 2019 elections to the Verkhovna Rada, the Strength and Honor party did not pass the electoral threshold of 5%.
