Biography of Mikhail Zgurovsky
Date of Birth: 30.01.1950
Mikhail Zakharovich Zgurovsky - Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine (1994-1999), Rector of the National Technical University of Ukraine 'Kyiv Polytechnic Institute' named after I. Sikorsky, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine, of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, member of the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine. Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukroboronprom (2018-2019).
Place of Birth. Education. Born in the city of Skala-Podilsk in the Ternopil region. In 1975, he graduated from the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute specializing in 'Automated Control Systems'.
Career. Since 1975 - engineer, senior engineer, senior research fellow, professor at the Department of Technical Cybernetics, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI).
1986-1987 - Deputy Head of the Scientific Research Department of the Ministry of Higher and Medium Education of the USSR.
Since 1992 - Rector of KPI (now - National Technical University of Ukraine 'Kyiv Polytechnic Institute').
1994-1999 - Minister of Education of Ukraine. After that, he returned to being the Rector of KPI.
On January 23, 2018, Mikhail Zgurovsky was elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukroboronprom.
On July 9, 2019, President Volodymyr Zelensky terminated the powers of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the state concern Ukroboronprom, Mikhail Zgurovsky.
Research Activities. Mikhail Zgurovsky is the author or co-author of more than 300 scientific works, including 20 monographs, textbooks, 20 inventions. He has supervised six doctors of sciences and 29 candidates of sciences. Editor-in-chief of the scientific and technical journals 'Scientific News of the National Technical University of Ukraine 'Kyiv Polytechnic Institute' and 'System Research and Information Technologies', member and editor of several scientific and technical journals: 'Journal of Computer Mathematics and Applied Mathematics', 'Cybernetics and System Analysis', 'Space Science and Technology', 'Problems of Management and Computer Science', 'Control Systems and Machines'.
Awards. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Honored Scientist of Ukraine (2000), three-time winner of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of Science and Technology (1990, 1999, 2004), winner of the V. Glushkov Prize of the NAS of Ukraine (1999), winner of the award named after V. Mikhalovich of the NAS of Ukraine (2002), Professor.
Family. The wife of Mikhail Zgurovsky - Lyudmila Petrovna - is a lecturer at NTUU 'KPI'. The family has two children - daughter Natalia (born in 1976) and son Alexander (born in 1987).
