However, 67-year-old Madonna has 252 million sales over her four-decade-long career.

Expectations for the New Album

In just a few weeks, 35-year-old Taylor will release her new album 'The Life Of A Showgirl', expected on October 3. This release is set to be the most successful of her career.

Earlier this month, Spotify confirmed that 'The Life Of A Showgirl' has already set a record for the number of pre-saves on the platform, surpassing her previous record with the album 'The Tortured Poets Department', which sold 2.61 million units in the first week.

The new album achieved 300 million streams in one day on Spotify and an impressive one billion in five days.

Additionally, Taylor became the first artist in history to occupy all 14 positions on the Billboard Hot 100.

Continuing Career

In February 2025, Taylor surpassed Madonna's record for the most number one albums in the UK, achieving her 13th chart-topper with the live album 'Lover (Live From Paris)'.

Madonna has 12 albums that topped the UK charts, the last being 'MDNA', released in 2012.

Taylor also achieved success, tying with Elvis Presley, who also has 13 number one albums. Only Robbie Williams and The Beatles surpass her with 15 albums at the top of the charts.

Madonna, known for her work ethic, is currently working on her 15th studio album, the debut of which was postponed due to hospitalization in 2024.

Despite the competition, both artists support each other. For instance, Madonna invited Taylor on stage at the iHeartRadio Awards in 2015 to perform the hit 'Ghosttown' from the album 'Rebel Heart'.

The album 'The Life Of A Showgirl' by Taylor will feature 12 tracks, including 'Father Figure' – an interpolation of George Michael's 1987 song. Taylor notes that this album is what she has always wanted to create.

The success of Taylor Swift and Madonna in the music arena confirms their unmatched popularity and influence on global culture. Both stars continue to surprise fans with new achievements and releases, winning the hearts of millions of people around the world.
