Research: Missionary and Doggy Style – The Most Dangerous Sex Positions

According to The Sun: Experts claim that it's not the extreme positions in the bedroom that lead to injuries, but rather the most common positions that send Brits to A&E.

New research has revealed which positions most often result in painful injuries, and it turns out that favorite 'vanilla' positions like missionary are more dangerous than you might imagine.

The study conducted by sexual education experts at Joy Love Dolls analyzed data from over 1000 individuals across Europe and the US who sustained injuries due to sexual activities.

Doggy Style

The sex position 'doggy style' proved to be the most dangerous for women, causing over 20% of injuries.

For men, 'doggy style' was the second most dangerous, responsible for nearly 16% of injuries during sex, with strained muscles, back pain, and even penile fractures among the most common issues.

Missionary

The missionary position is a nightmare for men in the bedroom.

This position has been the cause of nearly one in five sex injuries in men, and is the leading cause of penile fractures.

Many individuals also reported experiencing back pain, strain, and muscle aches.

Changing Positions

Another unexpected danger is changing positions mid-play, accounting for almost 10% of female injuries.

Standing

Having sex standing up, while it may sound adventurous, is a serious strain on the back, especially for men.

Almost half of all injuries from this position occur due to back pain.

For women, it is less risky, but still accounts for over 4% of injuries.

Cowgirl and Reverse Cowgirl

The 'cowgirl' position, where the woman is on top, made it into the top 5 for both genders.

For men, it often leads to injuries from below, while women report injuries to their knees and thighs.

The 'reverse cowgirl' position, more dangerous for men, accounts for nearly 6% of accidents and leads to complaints of penile pain.

And to some extent, other risky movements, such as standing 69 and oral sex, surprisingly lead to pain as well.

Sex education expert Amy Nguyen from Joy Love Dolls warned that rough sex and poor communication are the main factors for injuries.

More than 60% of individuals admitted they had sustained injuries during sex, and more than half said they sought medical help.

Final note: for women, the most common injuries are to the vaginal mucosa, while for men, it's typical back pain.

So, next time you hit the bed, you might want to reconsider that 'safe' move. Your body will thank you later.

Recent studies have shown that some popular sex positions can lead to serious injuries, especially if performed incorrectly. It’s important to take this into account to ensure safety and comfort in intimate relationships.
