During the 80 km cycling stage, he wore a helmet with his daughter’s name decorated with gold stickers, considering it a 'lucky charm'.

During the 18 km run, when Tommy was already at the edge of his strength, he thought he saw Molly and Bambi at the side of the road. This became the most vivid moment of the competition for him. He wrote:
