According to them, Trump's representatives will focus on an immediate ceasefire aimed at temporarily 'freezing' the conflict during negotiations. It is also expected that the European Union and NATO will take on a larger share of the costs of supporting Ukraine.

One option being considered by Waltz is that continued US military aid to Ukraine will be contingent upon Kyiv's participation in peace talks with Russia and a ceasefire. Another option involves allowing Russia to retain the territories it currently controls in exchange for Ukraine's membership in NATO.
