US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris were offered an interview with the '60 Minutes' program on CBS News. However, the Republican declined the offer, Axios reports.Importantly, on September 10, 2024, debates took place between Harris and Trump. After this, the US Vice President repeatedly offered the former president to hold another round, to which he responded with a refusal. Since Trump stated it was 'too late' to hold new debates, the show on CBS News could have been the last chance for both candidates to reach a mass audience 29 days before election day.The channel claims that Trump agreed but later refused the interview. In a comment to Axios, Steven Cheung, Trump's campaign communications director, explained the situation.'There was a discussion, but nothing was scheduled or confirmed. They insisted on interrupting the interview for a fact-checking process,' he said.Meanwhile, US Vice President Kamala Harris agreed and will take part in the show, which will air on October 7. At the same Time, the invitation to Trump remains valid.'This year, the Harris and Trump campaigns agreed to participate in the '60 Minutes' program. Vice President Harris will talk to correspondent Bill Whitaker. After initially agreeing to an interview with Scott Pelley, the former President Trump's campaign decided to withdraw from participation. Pelley will talk about this on Monday evening,' added the '60 Minutes' representative.Source: RBC-Ukraine.
