Journalist Igor Ilyash Detained in Belarus.
In Belarus, journalist Igor Ilyash, who is the husband of journalist Katerina Andreyeva, has been detained. Human rights activists reported this. Ilyash was detained on charges of assisting extremist formations, meaning he gave interviews to independent media and provided comments to Ukrainian publications. Previously, he was also arrested for participating in picketing and detained during searches of journalists.
Katerina Andreyeva and another journalist were detained on November 15, 2020, during a live broadcast of a protest against the Lukashenko regime. This happened after the forced landing of a Ryanair plane, when Roman Protasevich and his companion Sofia Sapega were arrested.
Previously, Protasevich was the editor of the Nexta channel, but now he works as a welder at a factory. Lithuania submitted evidence of crimes by the Belarusian regime to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
