A young Ukrainian soldier Andriy Romanyuk died in the war
On October 28, during the war against Russian invaders, 26-year-old soldier Andriy Romanyuk, known by the call sign Vorobey, was killed. The tragic news was reported by activist Alina Bodnar on the evening of October 30.
My heart was torn out. Our Andriy. Our Vorobchyk. I don’t know how we will live further. How now without you your girls – your mother and beloved. They took our oxygen. Meaning. Support. I can't believe it. And I don’t want to write it. But I must… – wrote Alina Bodnar.
Andriy Romanyuk was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity, starting by joining the protests on Maidan at the age of 15. Later, at 16, he became a volunteer in the ATO zone.
During the full-scale war, Andriy was a junior sergeant and commander of the strike drone unit in the 49th separate assault battalion Carpathian Sich.
In 2023, the fighter was wounded, but despite this, he sought to return to the front as soon as possible.
Poet and combat medic Yelyzaveta Zharykova shared memories about the fallen soldier:
2023 year. Andriy is wounded. Attempts to break out from the hospital to war. Says: what about this torn and sewn ear? Well, really, is it a problem?
Yelyzaveta Zharykova added: "Andriy lived by the war and struggle for Ukraine, knew how to work with mind and inspiration, to protect his people. He came as a teenager to Maidan, then participated in the ATO. In all life trials, he was bright, sacrificial, and faithful. And he gave his life for the freedom and life of others".
On November 1 in Kyiv, a farewell to Andriy Romanyuk will be held in St. Michael’s Cathedral (10:00) and on Independence Square (12:00), and on November 2, a farewell ceremony will take place in Vinnytsia.
