On January 11 in France, near the train station of Strasbourg, an accident happened in which two trams collided. Traffic was blocked, and several dozen people were injured. This was reported by the publication Le Figaro.
The collision occurred in a tunnel leading to the urban station stop. According to reports, 50 people were injured, and a total of about 100 people were involved in the accident, of which 15 were hospitalized.
The law enforcement agencies and rescuers urged to avoid the crash site to not interfere with the work of emergency services. Tram traffic was halted in both directions of the station. It is also reported that 130 firefighters and civil rescuers were mobilized to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
The head of the city arrived at the scene and is with the injured and rescuers. She expressed gratitude to the special services for their work. Jeanne Barsegyan reported that the injured had fractures, cuts, neck injuries, but no one’s life is in danger.
According to the BFMTV channel, the accident occurred at 15:30 local Time. According to preliminary data from firefighters, one of the trams was on the wrong track and collided head-on with another vehicle while it was stationary.
