Former Soviet aircraft carrier 'Minsk' burned down during repairs in China.

Near Shanghai, during reconstruction, the former Soviet aircraft carrier 'Minsk' burned down: it was supposed to become part of a themed military park, CNN reports.

According to the information, the ship was anchored in a lagoon near the Yangtze River in the city of Nantong. It was planned that after reconstruction it would become part of the military themed park.

A fire broke out on the deck of the aircraft carrier, and after extinguishing, significant damage to the ship's superstructure and charred metal on its flange under the main deck were found. There are no casualties, and the causes of the fire are being determined.

It is worth noting that the aircraft carrier 'Minsk' was part of the Soviet Pacific Fleet. It was built in 1978 at the Black Sea Shipbuilding Plant in Nikolaev. After the collapse of the USSR, it was acquired by the Russian fleet and then sold to a South Korean company for scrap metal. Subsequently, the aircraft carrier was resold to China and became part of a theme park in Shenzhen.
