In New York, the "Order of St. Panteleimon" was awarded for helping Ukraine.
The ceremony of awarding the public initiative "Order of St. Panteleimon" to an American doctor and a charitable organization, who made a significant contribution to the development of medicine in Ukraine, took place in New York.
American plastic surgeon Minoj Abraham and the nonprofit organization Project CURE received the order. The presentation was conducted by the organization's executive director, Douglas Jackson.
The awards were presented by the head of the World Federation of Ukrainian Medical Societies, Professor of Lviv Medical University Andriy Bazylevych.
"The Order of St. Panteleimon was traditionally awarded to the best Ukrainian doctors, but last year it was decided to extend this idea beyond Ukraine, as with the beginning of the full-scale war, very significant help began to arrive at Ukrainian hospitals from other countries," said the president of the overseas council of the USA "Order of St. Panteleimon" Tetiana Tymkiv.
The American council included representatives from 12 well-known Ukrainian organizations in various states of the USA.
"Our task was to identify doctors, medics, philanthropists, or organizations that help Ukraine in the medical field," explained Tymkiv.
As a result of the vote, Dr. Abraham, who heads the "Face to Face" initiative committee at the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, received the award.
The team of doctors worked in the western regions of Ukraine, providing assistance to about a hundred patients - both military and civilians who received severe facial injuries.
Project CURE is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to over 130 countries worldwide. It has been cooperating with Ukraine even before the war began and has provided assistance worth 50 million dollars.
The "Order of St. Panteleimon" award is the highest public award given for significant contributions to healthcare and the development of Ukrainian society.
It is also worth noting that the USA will provide Ukraine with weapons worth 425 million dollars as part of a new military aid package.
The Swedish government also decided to support Ukraine with 63 million euros. This tranche will be allocated as a preliminary package of military aid.
