The USA is testing an air kite for electricity generation: what are its advantages.
The American company Windlift has developed a new way of producing electricity using a kite with attached generators. The kite ascends vertically, pulling a cable, and then returns to repeat the process. This device can produce 30 kWh of electricity, which is enough for an average household.
According to Windlift, this method of electricity production is much cheaper and more efficient than traditional wind turbines. It also reduces material costs for construction by 90-95%. The technology can provide electricity to remote areas with minimal expenditure.
Windlift is already working on a system with a capacity of 75 kWh for commercial purposes. This project is not the first - in 2016, the company Makani also proposed a similar method of electricity production but stopped in 2020 due to risks associated with the project.
