UAF acknowledged VAR error in the match Dynamo – Shakhtar: what happened with the penalty.
The UAF Referee Committee acknowledged the VAR error
According to inkorr.com: The Referee Committee of the Ukrainian Football Association acknowledged the decision of the VAR video assistants as incorrect in a controversial episode involving a possible penalty during the match between 'Dynamo' and 'Shakhtar'.
In the 60th minute of the game, Shola Ogunbade was stopped by Yukhym Konopleva, but the referees did not respond to this moment. After the match, the Committee published VAR recordings, which revealed that the defender of 'Shakhtar' indeed committed a foul.
“Romanov, the main referee, did not have sufficient information to make the correct decision,” the Committee stated, urging video assistants to recommend reviewing the episode with the main referee in similar situations.
As a result, 'Shakhtar' celebrated victory over 'Dynamo' with a score of 3:1 in the central match of the 11th round of the Ukrainian Premier League for the 2025/26 season.
This situation once again highlighted the importance of proper use of VAR in Ukrainian football. Refereeing mistakes can significantly impact the outcome of the game and the emotions of fans, so the Committee called for greater vigilance in similar situations in the future.
