Ukraine won the medal tally of the Youth European Boxing Championship.
The Ukrainian team took first place in the medal tally of the 2024 Youth European Boxing Championship. The continental championship took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. This is reported by «Suspilne Sport».
The tournament in Bulgaria was held from October 8 to October 21. Ukraine was represented by 25 athletes: 13 men and 12 women.
In total, the Ukrainians managed to win 14 medals, eight of which were gold. In the final matches for the «gold», 11 representatives of Ukraine participated in total.
In particular, Ukraine was represented by Yuriy Zakharieyev, who became the first boxer in history to become a world champion in one year at both the adult and youth levels. At the 2024 Youth Euro, Zakharieyev managed to win his second «gold» of the continental championship.
Let us recall that within the Ukrainian championship held in Ivano-Frankivsk, a local athlete managed to cover a distance of 35 km in 2 hours 48 minutes and 4 seconds, setting a national record among women.
By the way, 23-year-old Ukrainian athlete and Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh shared how many more Olympic Games she plans to take part in.
