Will Ukraine Lift Ban on Arms Export? Umerov Gave a Forecast.
Ukraine is considering the possibility of attracting foreign investments in the defense industry and does not exclude the resumption of domestic arms exports. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, during a briefing in Brussels.
Last year, when I took the post of Minister of Defense, we created a plan for our capabilities in the state and private sectors of the defense industry. The first step was taken by the state by investing in defense. This year, we offered partners several cooperation options, including the creation of joint ventures, long-term contracts for 10 years, and financial instruments such as loans or export financing
According to the minister, negotiations are currently underway with international partners regarding various projects, but the final decision will depend on the state leadership.
Some countries have already expressed a desire to purchase Ukrainian missiles, drones, and other weapons. We do not exclude such a possibility, but the decision will be made collectively at the country's leadership level
In 2022, Ukraine introduced a ban on the export of military products to provide its own army with the necessary resources during the full-scale war with Russia.
We remind you that Estonia is considering the possibility of purchasing Ukrainian defense products. However, due to the martial law in Ukraine, an export ban is in place.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation managed to save 4.5 billion UAH of budget funds from the first contracts on drones within the Army of Drones thanks to the construction of a "strict procurement control system," controlled by the Bureau of Economic Security and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.
