Ukrainians explained who has the right to wear 'pixel': what penalties threaten civilians for camouflage.

Ukrainians explained who has the right to wear 'pixel' and who can be fined.
In our country, there are rules regarding the use of military clothing. Ordinary citizens cannot wear camouflage clothing without problems, especially the Armed Forces uniform with the 'pixel' pattern. Violating these rules is subject to monetary fines.
The ban applies both to wearing a complete military uniform and to individual items with distinguishing marks. In case of repeated violation of this law within a year, the offender will face stricter punishment.
It is allowed to wear military uniforms to the following categories of individuals:
- military personnel of the Armed Forces and other military formations;
- military conscripts during training sessions;
- reservists;
- cadets of military universities and lyceum students;
- persons released into the reserve or retired with the right to wear uniform.
If an ordinary person wears a military uniform or clothing items with distinguishing marks, they can be fined.
The Ukrainian law from 2019 contains Article 186-8 of the Code of Administrative Offences, which prohibits the unlawful use of military uniform. Wearing military clothing with the insignia of the Armed Forces or other military formations by individuals who do not have the corresponding rights is a violation of the law.
The system of penalties includes:
- A fine of 2550 to 3400 hryvnias and confiscation of military uniform for the first violation.
- An increased fine of up to 6800 hryvnias or community service lasting 30-40 hours for repeated violation within a year.
Individual items of military clothing may be grounds for police inspection. If a violation is detected, the police have the right to detain the person for identification and to prepare procedural documents.
Ukrainians who are abroad will be able to pay the fines for violations from the TCC in a new way.
