In July 2024, Ukrainians made purchases of cash and non-cash currency amounting to $2.775 billion, which is a record for the last 12 years.

According to the NBU, this figure exceeds the previous maximum in November 2021 ($2.698 billion), but is still lower than the historic maximum in October 2012 ($3.34 billion).

In July, cash currency was purchased for $2.356 billion, which is $281 million more than in June. The volume of non-cash currency purchases amounted to $419 million, also exceeding the June figure ($381 million).

As for currency sales, the population sold $1.657 billion: cash – $1.331 billion (which is $140 million more than in June), and non-cash – $326 million (in June – $293 million).

Net currency purchases in July amounted to $1.117 billion, which is 15% more than in June, when Ukrainians purchased $972 million more than they sold.

Since the beginning of 2024, net currency purchases by Ukrainians amounted to $6.355 billion.
