The development of electronic countermeasures (ECM) in the field of countering enemy UAVs continues in Ukraine. This information was provided by the First Deputy Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Brigadier General Vadym Hladkov, in his first interview with Ukrinform.
We are currently developing this direction (ECM systems, - ed.). There is an organizational structure, there is experience in using such tools directly on the front lines. Previously, electronic warfare systems were used to counter enemy intelligence and communication systems. Now we also have to counter enemy strike capabilities. This primarily concerns various types of UAVs.
However, Hladkov noted that ECM systems are not a universal panacea.
ECM systems can be bypassed. It is important to consider direction, range, and altitude. If these characteristics are not taken into account, the enemy will be able to operate.
