Umerov Assessed the Possibility of Launching Arms Export from Ukraine.
Ukraine Seeks International Investments for Defense Industry Development
Ukraine is actively seeking international investments for the development of its defense industry and is considering the possibility of exporting domestic weaponry in the future. This was announced by Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov at a briefing in Brussels.
According to Umerov, a development plan for production capabilities in the public and private sectors was developed last year. The state has already made initial investments in the defense industry.
Cooperation with International Partners
The minister outlined three main directions of cooperation with international partners:
- Creating joint ventures with public and private investments.
- Providing long-term state contracts.
- Attracting new financial instruments, such as loans and export financing.
"We are currently discussing specific plans with each country to determine which projects we will jointly invest in," noted Umerov.
Possibility of Exporting Ukrainian Military Products
The minister also did not rule out the possibility of exporting Ukrainian military products in the future, noting that some countries have already expressed interest in purchasing Ukrainian missiles, drones, and other weaponry.
However, the final decision on export will be made at the state leadership level.
Ban on Military Product Exports
Recall that since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine has banned the export of military products to ensure the needs of its own Armed Forces.
