EU Will Remember Russia for Invading Ukraine
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the EU will introduce a fourth package of sanctions against Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.
What the New Sanctions Package Will Include:
- Russia will lose its right to membership in international financial institutions, particularly the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank;
- pressure on the elite close to Putin will increase, to be discussed by the finance, justice, and interior ministers of the G7 countries;
- the circulation of cryptocurrency, which Russia is trying to use to bypass sanctions, will be banned;
- the export of any luxury goods from EU countries will be banned;
- the import of iron and steel from Russia will be banned.
Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that Russian occupiers are violating agreements on humanitarian corridors, and Putin is deliberately ignoring participation in negotiations.
