Prime Minister Chairs Key Financial Meeting

According to 5 канал — Політика: Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretsky recently led a session attended by representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, National Bank, State Treasury Service, and the National Securities and Stock Market Commission. The discussions focused on crafting the 2027 budget and meeting Ukraine's international obligations.

During the meeting, Koretsky highlighted the need to define immediate measures to secure continued financial support from global partners while preserving macroeconomic stability.

“We identified priority steps to fulfill international commitments — on which partner financial aid depends — and to maintain macrofinancial stability,” Koretsky stated.

The prime minister also stressed the absolute necessity of fully funding Ukraine's Defense Forces.

“The unconditional priority is complete financial backing for the Defense Forces. We discussed funding for resilience plans and social expenditures. We are updating needs through the end of 2026 while simultaneously working on the 2027 budget draft,” Koretsky added.

This high-level meeting takes place against a backdrop of recent events that have impacted the country's education sector. Notably, on July 19, an attack destroyed over 400,000 school textbooks at a printing facility — an incident that underscores the urgency of financial stability and robust state programs during these challenging times.

Government Presses On with Economic Support

The budget talks signal the administration's ongoing efforts to bolster the economy and ensure stability amid the nation's many challenges. Prioritizing funding for the Defense Forces reflects a security-focused policy stance, while the commitment to social programs highlights the need to protect vulnerable populations.

All these factors are critical for Ukraine's continued development in the face of both global and domestic pressures. As the war with Russia continues, maintaining international financial backing and domestic fiscal discipline remains paramount.
