On the night of September 16, air defense units in the Kyiv region were engaging Russian UAVs.

The head of the KMVA, Serhiy Popko, emphasized that Kyiv became the target of the eighth air attack by the occupiers in September. Air defense shot down nearly two dozen enemy UAVs around the capital.

In particular, on Monday night, enemy forces used strike drones, likely of the Shahed type. Air defense was able to destroy nearly two dozen enemy UAVs in the airspace around the city. According to preliminary information, no casualties or damage were reported.

Latvia will transfer armored vehicles purchased from the UK to Ukraine

Latvia will transfer combat reconnaissance tracked armored vehicles CVR(T) purchased earlier from the UK to Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense did not specify the exact number of armored vehicles that will be transferred to Ukraine.

It is noted that Latvia has committed to providing military support to Ukraine amounting to 0.25% of its GDP annually until at least 2026. Earlier, various types of weapons and equipment, including helicopters and self-propelled howitzers purchased from Austria, were already transferred to Ukraine.

Occupiers advanced in several directions, attacking in the Kursk region

Russian invaders advanced in the Siversky, Pokrovsky directions, and near Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. Additionally, the Russians recaptured a settlement in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, where Ukrainian forces also have advances.

Russian military bloggers claimed that the occupiers advanced east of Selydove, into southwestern Ukrainka (both southeast of Pokrovsk), as well as south and east of Ukrainka, but ISW found no confirmation of these claims.

Catastrophic floods in Europe: the death toll has risen to eight

At least eight people have died, and thousands have had to evacuate due to floods in Europe, including in the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, and Romania.

In eastern Germany, the water level is rising, but overall the situation in the country is relatively calm. In Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic, which have been affected by the floods, the situation remains tense. Rains have flooded large areas, and by Sunday evening at least eight people had died in the water. Another four people in the Czech Republic are missing.

Notably, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk declared a state of natural disaster due to flooding in the southern part of the country.
