For the first time in history, Ukraine will be represented at the Paralympics in 17 sports.

President of the National Committee for Sports of Disabled People of Ukraine Valeriy Sushkevych has information about the sports in which Ukraine will be represented at the Paralympics. This was reported by Tribuna.com.
This Time Ukraine will participate in 17 sports, which is an increase compared to previous years. In addition to the usual 15 sports, two unique sports have appeared that will be represented by our team this time. According to Sushkevych, a new sport - boccia, which was not previously represented by the Ukrainian team at the Paralympic Games, has emerged. However, he admitted that achieving a medal in this sport would be extremely difficult as it is a new discipline for the team. At the same time, Sushkevych emphasized that boccia is an identifier of Paralympic sports, as it allows people who are almost immobile to compete.
The president also spoke about the second unique sport in which Ukraine will be represented for the first time. This is handbike - a wheelchair for people without both legs, which helps them engage in sports. It is important to note that a well-known Ukrainian athlete, a world and European biathlon champion, decided to try himself in this sport at the Paralympics. Sushkevych himself advised him not to do this, but the athlete still managed to make it and received a license to participate in the competition.
Let us remind you that 140 para-athletes will represent Ukraine at the 2024 Paralympics, and the competitions will take place from August 28 to September 8.
