German diplomat Wolfgang Ischinger calls on Western countries to set their own "red lines" for Russia instead of simply accepting Putin's terms. He believes that Western leaders should make more threats and be ready to carry them out. He expressed this view at the Yalta European Strategy conference, noting that the West can set its lines and, in the case of Russia, threaten with the introduction of cruise missiles or allow Ukraine to strike military targets in Russia.

The diplomat also spoke about the possibility of peaceful negotiations and the influence of India as a mediator in a contact group with Europe, China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey. He also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss holding a peace summit, which is expected to take place by the end of 2024.

Ischinger emphasized that negotiations require a position of strength and reminded that Russia respects strength, not weakness. He also noted that the establishment of general frameworks for negotiations should be carried out by the US and Russia.

The diplomat expressed hope that the results of the US elections would not affect the situation but noted that Trump could resolve all issues on his own by simply calling Vladimir Putin.
