Emotional Moment at the Premiere

At the film's premiere, the action star couldn't hold back tears of joy, realizing how warmly the audience received his work. After the screening, the entire hall stood up and marked their performance with friendly applause.

The Rock was seen wiping tears away while standing next to his co-star Emily Blunt, who plays his wife. She also looked amazed by the audience's reaction.

Early reviews of the film promise major awards, and Oscar rumors are already circulating.

In the biographical film The Smashing Machine, Johnson portrays UFC champion Mark Kerr, who twice earned the championship title in his weight class.

Transformation for the Role

For his new role, The Rock underwent an impressive transformation, looking just like the real Mark.

He used special facial prosthetics and lost around 27 kg for maximum likeness to the character.

At the Venice Film Festival press conference, Dwayne shared that he has long wanted to step outside of his stereotypical action hero image.

“I have wanted this for a long time. We have talked about it for a trio, when you are in Hollywood – it became about box office,”

the Rock recalled, commenting on working with Emily and director Benny Safdie.

“It can be loud, it can sound very loud and throw you into a category.”

Dwayne also added:

“I had a passionate desire and a voice that said, 'What if there is something more, and I can?'”
