Gary Lineker paid for his brother's appeal: how the footballer helped free him from prison.
According to The Sun: Nightclub manager Wayne Lineker revealed that his brother Gary funded the appeal that allowed him to be released from prison for tax fraud. Wayne emphasized that the football star and former host of 'Match of the Day' Gary believes that his brother became a victim of attention due to his famous surname.
Legal troubles
Wayne, who is now 63 years old, was sentenced to 2½ years in 2006 for financial offenses.
“I think my brother was simply targeted as a victim because of his name,” Wayne said.
Discussing the situation, Wayne expressed gratitude to his brother for the support that helped him rebuild his life after his release from prison.
The story of the Lineker brothers shows how fame and public attention can affect personal life. Whether Wayne truly became a victim of circumstances related to his name is hard to judge, but his story serves as a reminder of how difficult it can be to find justice in a world of loud names.
