One of the last 'munchkin' actors from 'The Wizard of Oz' has passed away.

According to The Sun: One of the last stars of the classic film 'The Wizard of Oz' died at the age of 94.

Elaine Merk Binder was one of the last living munchkins from the popular film.

Binder's daughter, Annette Phillips, confirmed the sad news to TMZ.

The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Elaine was selected as one of eight children to participate as munchkins in this cult film. She successfully auditioned in 1938.

Commenting on the audition, she previously told Mirror US:

“I auditioned for the role of munchkins in 'The Wizard of Oz'. It was terrifying for me. This was my first big casting in a major studio. I was relieved when Bud told the dance director: ‘She is fine.’'

“I didn't have to perform like the others. And I was chosen as one of eight who would dance and sing. We later found out that they added girls to the Munchkins because they had the wrong impression that the Munchkins were not athletic.”

She was only eight years old when she filmed her scenes at MGM Studios. Binder can be seen in the scene where the song 'Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are' plays. She is in the second little house on the stairs.

This immortal film featured Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale and Frank Morgan as the Wizard of Oz.
