World champion in athletics filmed his innocence: how he passed the doping test.
The Case of the World Long Jump Champion
According to The Sun: The world long jump champion used footage from hospital surveillance cameras to justify himself after a failed doping test conducted during the competition. Wan Jiangnan took the test in November 2024, which revealed traces of terbutaline in his body. This banned substance is often used to treat people with breathing problems, such as asthma.
“All test results are negative except for one, and I am confident in my innocence,” said the sports official.
Wan noted that terbutaline could have entered his body through medication prescribed to him during treatment. He provided detailed information about his medical condition and explained how the treatment went.
The athlete also called for more understanding and support from sports organizations to avoid similar situations in the future.
This case vividly illustrates the difficulties athletes face regarding medical treatment and doping tests. Wan Jiangnan advocates for transparency in such matters, as even the smallest details can lead to serious consequences for an athlete's career.
