For Russian gas, one must pay with independence: Zelensky responds to Fic's statement.
Zelensky accused Fic of choosing Moscow over Western partners
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fic, chose Moscow as a partner instead of the USA and other countries that offer gas on commercial terms. Zelensky accused Fic of paying for Russian gas with the independence and sovereignty of his country. The president emphasized that many European countries have already refused Russian gas in favor of preserving sovereignty.
Earlier, Robert Fic threatened to block EU assistance to Ukraine if Zelensky does not resume the transit of Russian gas. He also threatened to stop supplying electricity to Ukraine if Kyiv halts the transportation of gas to Central Europe. The President of Ukraine stated that Ukraine has no intention of continuing the transit of Russian gas.
