Zelenskyy Opens Door for Abramovich in Talks: What Message Was Sent to Putin.
Ukrainian President Comments on Roman Abramovich's Role
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has addressed the possibility of Russian businessman Roman Abramovich acting as a mediator in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Abramovich traveled to Kyiv in May, where Zelenskyy used him as a channel to convey a signal to Vladimir Putin regarding Ukraine's readiness for a bilateral meeting. However, the president made it clear he has no intention of traveling to Moscow for face-to-face talks with Putin. This development comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to find a resolution to the conflict.
Zelenskyy's Stance on Abramovich's Involvement
Zelenskyy indicated that Abramovich's participation as a mediator is a realistic possibility, but it ultimately hinges on Putin's stance.
“He could be involved; that depends on Putin. Each country must decide who will represent them at the technical level or at the level of national security advisors,” Zelenskyy stated.
The president further emphasized that Abramovich fully grasped his position and the proposal put forward, and promised to relay feedback to the Kremlin.
“I think he understood my position and our proposal 100%, and he said he would provide feedback to the Kremlin,” Zelenskyy added.
As a result, the question of Roman Abramovich's role in the negotiations remains unresolved, with next steps contingent on the response from the Russian side.
The potential involvement of Roman Abramovich in Ukraine-Russia talks could signal some progress in diplomatic efforts. Yet, the Kremlin's position remains the key condition for this scenario to materialize, highlighting the complexity of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Russian side's reaction to Zelenskyy's proposals and Abramovich's intentions may prove decisive in shaping the situation going forward.
