Building an Independent Air Defense Network

According to UATV: During a press briefing, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined the urgent need to establish a self-sufficient, multi-layered air defense system. He stressed that controlling the skies and advancing domestic defense technology are essential for the country's protection. According to the president, Ukraine must acquire several hundred air defense systems—a figure he described as critical to national security.

Three Pillars to End the War

Zelenskyy also identified three major priorities he believes are necessary to bring the conflict to a close:

  • Global-level air defense to shield against aerial threats.
  • Expanding the arsenal of long-range missiles, enabling Ukraine to respond more effectively to challenges.
  • Mobilization efforts, a vital step for strengthening the nation's defense capabilities.
“Securing the sky is one of the top priorities for the defense minister, together with the commander of air defense,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.

He added, “We will need to protect the sky,” underscoring the urgency of the matter. “This is issue number one,” the president said, emphasizing the importance of resolving Ukraine’s air defense challenges. “We must do everything to end the war,” he concluded, calling for decisive action in this area.

These statements highlight the Ukrainian government’s focus on bolstering the country’s defensive capabilities to ensure citizen safety amid a difficult environment. Establishing an independent air defense system represents a critical step toward enhancing national security, especially given current threats. The emphasis on mobilization and technological development reflects Ukraine’s determination to adapt to the challenges it faces in wartime.
