Zelensky calls to transfer $300 billion of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on European partners to make a decision on transferring frozen Russian assets amounting to about $300 billion to Ukraine for purchasing weapons.
The head of state stated this during a press conference following the European Political Community summit in Budapest.
"Everyone is asking what you will do if Trump does not support you financially? Where will you get the weapons? How will you defend yourself? I answer you. Can we take the 300 billion that belong to us?... Can we decide what kind of weapons we need ourselves? Can we decide what to do with this money ourselves? Can no country in Europe block this money?" - emphasized the president.
Zelensky also expressed concern regarding proposals for a ceasefire without proper security guarantees for Ukraine. "First a ceasefire, and then we'll see. A very scary situation for all our citizens... Your children are dying, they are perishing there, your homes are being destroyed? What are we talking about?" - he emphasized.
Let us recall, Zelensky commented on Trump's intentions to end the war and the involvement of the DPRK in the conflict.
