A criminal group that stole over 4000 bodies from crematoriums has been busted in China. The criminals were selling bones for making dental implants and earned millions of dollars. A Chinese company was accused of stealing bodies from crematoriums and medical labs for using their bones. This caused public outrage. Prosecutors in northern China have charged several suspects in a long-term scheme that involved selling marked bodies to a biomaterials production company.
Bones and semi-finished products were added to the list of seized items from crime scenes, including 18 tons of bones. Crematorium workers dismembered the bodies and transported them for further processing.
