Changes in EU Entry Rules This Fall: What Ukrainians Need to Know.
Europe's Entry/Exit Registration System Starts on November 10
The European Union is introducing a new automated entry and exit registration system at the borders of the Schengen Area. According to Radio Liberty, the system will start operating on November 10, 2024.
According to the publication "Our Poland", EU countries must confirm their readiness for the official launch of the system by the end of September. The EES system will be implemented at all Schengen Area entry borders - land, sea, and air.
The new system involves the use of self-service terminals for automatic traveler registration. There will be no need to go through manual passport control and get stamps at the border anymore.
Each Time they cross the border, travelers will scan their passports or other travel documents. The EES system will store data on the traveler's name, biometric characteristics, date, and place of entry and exit.
Thus, biometric documents will be required to cross the border. Data on face scans and fingerprints will be stored for three years after each trip.
The developers of the system expect that it will simplify the border crossing process and strengthen security in Europe.
Also, let's remind that Poland made changes to the regulations for Ukrainian drivers starting September 10.
