Energoatom completes early repair of Ukrainian NPPs.
Energoatom has completed ahead of schedule the preventative maintenance of another power unit at one of the domestic NPPs. This happened earlier than planned. This is reported in the Telegram channel of Energoatom.
"On October 9, 11 days ahead of schedule, Energoatom completed the preventative maintenance of another power unit at one of the domestic NPPs. Its capacity is currently being restored," the statement said.
Energoatom reported that the repair work was completed earlier than planned. The company emphasized that nuclear power plants remain a key source of stable electricity supply for the country, providing over half of the total electricity production in Ukraine.
As of today, nine Energoatom power units located in the territories controlled by Ukraine are ready for operation during the autumn-winter period.
NPP repair in Ukraine
In 2024, Energoatom continued its repair work at Ukrainian nuclear power plants to ensure the stable and safe operation of power units. These works were of particular importance in preparation for the autumn-winter period when the demand for electricity significantly increases.
One of the key achievements was the completion of the repair ahead of schedule, which increased the reliability of the country's energy system. A total of nine power units located in the territories controlled by Ukraine have been successfully prepared for winter. Due to the timely completion of the work, Energoatom emphasized the role of nuclear power plants as the main source of uninterrupted electricity supply, providing more than half of the total electricity production in Ukraine.
Earlier, the head of Energoatom, Petro Kotin, announced on October 4 that out of nine nuclear power units, only one was undergoing planned maintenance.
It is worth noting that the branch "Separate unit 'Khmelnytska NPP'" concluded a direct contract with LLC 'Kyiv Energy Construction Company' for the implementation of design and construction works for the installation of a protective structure. The project cost is 1.7 billion UAH.
Recall that in October, as a result of a Russian attack on a major substation, one of the power lines supplying the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP was cut off from power supply. The station was again on the verge of a blackout.
