Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of those whose lives were interrupted by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Andriy Yefrosinenko.

On November 14, 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Yefrosinenko led a group of fighters who engaged in battle with numerically superior enemy forces near Pershotravneve in the Kharkiv region. Thanks to his professional actions, the enemy suffered losses of up to 30 individuals and was forced to retreat. Unfortunately, as a result of a gunshot wound, Andriy died, as reported by 'Glavkom', citing the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Andriy Vasylovych Yefrosinenko was born on April 20, 1973, in the town of Pereslavl-Zalessky in the Yaroslavl Oblast of Russia. In 1995, he graduated from the Institute of Border Troops of Ukraine and began service in the Sumy Detachment. In 2013, he led a unit that ensured border control at Donetsk airport. After his resignation, he reinstated his service.

Fight for Ukraine

In 2014, Andriy was performing combat missions in eastern Ukraine as part of a volunteer battalion. When the full-scale war began, he mobilized into the ranks of the State Border Guard Service and, along with a consolidated unit, carried out tasks in Bakhmut and Cherneshchyna.

Due to his extensive combat experience, Andriy became part of a new border detachment and was appointed to a leadership position in the 4th rapid reaction border command.

Last battle

On November 14, 2023, the fighters under his command engaged in a battle with the enemy, which outnumbered them, under the cover of artillery and mortar fire. The battle lasted over seven hours, during which the enemy suffered significant losses and was forced to retreat. Unfortunately, Andriy sustained a gunshot wound that turned out to be fatal.

Memory honor

Andriy Yefrosinenko was posthumously awarded the title of Colonel.

By decree of the President of Ukraine dated June 28, 2024, No. 390/2024, he was also posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the conferring of the 'Golden Star' order.

The hero is survived by his wife and four children.

'Glavkom' joins in a moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for their homeland. We remember those who fell at the hands of Russian invaders, lighting candles of remembrance and bowing our heads in sorrow during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who laid down their lives for freedom and independence: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who died in the fight against Russian occupiers and as a result of the attacks by enemy troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.

Honoring the memory of Lieutenant Colonel Andriy Yefrosinenko, Ukrainians express respect for his heroism and selflessness in the conditions of war. His feat will remain in our memory, and the posthumous awards will remind us of his service to the state. The hero's family, who lost their breadwinner, needs support and respect from society.
