The legendary anti-aircraft gunner of the Armed Forces was posthumously made a Hero of Ukraine.


Andriy Liniychuk, known as 'Kelt', has become a Hero of Ukraine (posthumously). The President of Ukraine published the relevant decree on the official website.
For personal courage and heroism demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, I decree: To confer the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the 'Golden Star' order to Liniychuk Andriy Andriyevich - sergeant (posthumously), - the decree states.
Andriy Liniychuk was born in Zhytomyr region and decided to join the Armed Forces to protect his country. In 2020, he signed a contract with the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade.
Andriy said in his interview: 'I decided to go to the army after university because I felt a connection.'
He was involved in the full-scale war near Horlivka in the positions of the 'Strela' air defense missile system and sustained two injuries, but always returned to service after treatment.
Andriy attended training abroad, where he successfully destroyed enemy air targets. He devoted himself to his work and became the first to successfully use the portable air defense missile system 'Martlet' modification 'Starstreak' in the 95th brigade.
Andriy Liniychuk shot down 16 'Orlan' planes, 1 'Zala', and a Ka-52 combat helicopter. At the age of 25, he received the 'For Courage' order.
Sergeant Andriy Liniychuk died on April 28 during enemy shelling in the east of the country.
Andriy Liniychuk was buried at the Smolyan military cemetery in Zhytomyr. His farewell was attended by ultras of the 'Polissya' football club with flares.
A farewell took place for Serhiy Desiatniuk, known as Dido, who was killed in the east.
