Pokrovsk and Kurakhiv Directions: Experts on the Significant Advantage of the Enemy.
Ukrainian fighters are repelling attacks from Russian troops at the front, despite the significant advantage of the opponent
According to military expert Serhiy Grabskyi, Russian troops outnumber Ukrainian forces in strength and armament in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhiv directions.
'In the Pokrovsk direction, there are about 150 thousand Russian military personnel, and in the Kurakhiv direction, there are 50. Thus, Russian troops exceed the Ukrainian army by at least five times in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhiv directions. This is not related to combat capability but to the significant advantage in numbers and equipment,' he noted.
Grabskyi stated that even if the Ukrainian command managed to move units from Kurakhiv to the Pokrovsk direction, it would not significantly change the situation at the front.
'Here, complex calculations are needed to determine what tasks we can accomplish under the circumstances with the forces and means we have,' he explained.
The expert pointed out that for successful resistance against the enemy in war, besides the combat readiness of units, there are a few other factors. The commanders' task is to prepare each unit for battle.
'In the Kurakhiv direction, we can conduct operations according to our rules - maneuvering defense, where we do not need to consider territory but only the enemy's combat capabilities. But everything changes when we are fighting on our territory, in directions that can change the rules of the game, even against numerous enemy forces,' Colonel Grabskyi noted.
According to the head of security programs at the Center for Global Studies 'Strategy XXI', Pavlo Lakyichuk, the lack of personnel at the front leads to breaches in defense.
'The distribution of resources between enemy and our troops is unequal. Last year, the Russians advanced by flexibly using our weak points, and now we are witnessing 'tails' - tactical breaches. This is not related to a change in Russian tactics - our defense is becoming less dense, and the distance between strong points is increasing,' he reported.
According to the expert, the lack of personnel means there are not enough people on the front lines to hold positions, and the enemy does not even need to 'break through the defense', as they can find weak spots.
The expert also noted that the example of the 155th OMBr shows that creating brigades from scratch is not effective (the 155th brigade is part of the project to create 14 brigades 'from scratch', trained and equipped in France, which became known due to cases of desertion and mass non-combat losses).
