10 applicants for one child. More adoption candidates in Ukraine than children.

According to the Director of the Kyiv Regional Center for Social Services, Nataliya Ibrahimova, couples have begun to take children aged 10 to 12 under guardianship because there are no children for adoption. Today, there are more people who want to adopt a child than there are children available.
«It's like a competition to get into a prestigious university – 10 people for one child. People now understand that there are simply no children from zero to three years old available for adoption. Instead, there are children aged 10-15. So now they have started to adopt more children aged 10-12», – said Ibrahimova.
Despite the complexity of the adoption process, many people agree to it. For example, in the Bucha district, about 90 couples have already been trained, and another 50 couples are currently undergoing training. However, there are no children in the district except those who are sick or HIV-infected.
According to previously provided information, after the adoption of the mobilization law, the number of people wishing to adopt a child has tripled. As of July 31, certificates have been issued to 200 people, another 170 people are being trained, and 100 candidates are waiting their turn.
