How North Korea Uses the War in Ukraine: ISW Assumptions.
North Korea Uses Ukraine to Test Missile Technologies
The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that North Korea is using Ukraine as a testing ground for its missile technologies and to enhance its military capabilities.
According to Reuters, Russian forces have launched ballistic missiles from North Korea that have demonstrated significantly improved accuracy. Analysts believe that North Korea is modernizing its missile technology with new navigation systems and guidance components obtained from Russia.
It is claimed that these missiles not only strengthen Russia's arsenal but also allow North Korea to develop its military capabilities for future operations. Furthermore, other Russian allies, including Iran, may use the lessons learned from Russia to improve the effectiveness of their strike systems.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that 4,000 out of 12,000 North Korean soldiers have died in the Kursk region. According to ISW analysts, the Ukrainian contingent in the Kursk region may suffer even greater losses by mid-April 2025.
