According to ТСН: At the beginning of 2026, meteorologists promise local snowfalls, the possibility of icy conditions in certain regions, as well as strong winds in the Carpathians.

According to the report from the Ukrhydrometcentre, icy conditions are expected on some sections of the highways. The wind will mainly be from the west, while in the western regions - from the southwest, with a speed of 5-10 m/s; during the day, gusts of up to 15-20 m/s may occur in the Carpathians.

Temperature Regime

The temperature during the day will fluctuate between -11...-6°C, while in the southern and most western regions, it is expected to be around -1...-6°C.

In Kyiv and the region, meteorologists forecast cloudy weather with small clearings and no precipitation. Icy conditions will be present on the roads in some areas. The wind will also be predominantly from the west, with a speed of 5-10 m/s.

The temperature in Kyiv during the day is expected to be around -8...-10°C, and in the Kyiv region -6...-11°C.

It was previously reported that the New Year in Ukraine will begin with frosts. According to meteorologists' forecasts, on January 1st, the country will be under the influence of cold air masses coming from the north.
