Archaeologists discovered the oldest firearm in the USA.
Ukrainian scientists found the oldest cannon on the territory of the USA
In the state of Arizona, American scientists discovered a bronze cannon, which turned out to be the oldest firearm on the continental part of the USA. Scientists believe that this cannon previously belonged to the conquistador Vasquez de Coronado and was created in 1539.
Coronado, along with his soldiers, went in search of the legendary golden cities of Cibola, but during the expedition, he looted and destroyed the local population. In the Santa Cruz Valley, researchers found the cannon, glass fragments, European dishes, and other artifacts.
The cannon weighed more than 18 kilograms and was mounted on fortification walls. Scientists believe that the weapon was created in Mexico or the Caribbean.
Experts suggest that this cannon was never used in battle.
